Summer sleeps…

Hibernating hedgehogs

Slumbering squirrels

Luscious leaves crunch beneath my feet

As autumn prevails

Ochre turns to burgundy

Mist upon the hills

Children wrapped up snuggly

To keep them safe from seasonal chills.

This is for d’Verse meeting at the bar…  is the season where many creatures are going to sleep for the winter- the trees were amazing today-but I only had my cellphone to get photos with…. I wanted to feel justified in my choice of burgundy….

  1. It is 80 degrees today here in Pac NW, but cold at night, so the trees know what to do. Going to enjoy the brief Indian Summer, and have my camera at the ready for the Fall colors.

  2. Squirrels and hedgehogs are still lumbering rather than slumbering down here, Alison, and I’m waiting for enough leaves to get a satisfying crunch! The second stanza gave me a warm glow!
